The Peruvian website "Peru Retail" reported on March 16 that data from the Peruvian Foreign Trade Research and Development Bureau (Idexcam) shows an increased demand for tangerines during the pandemic. There is a growing demand for fruit with vitamin C, and that includes Peruvian tangerines. Data shows that Peruvian tangerine exported was worth 250 million USD in 2020, which is an increase of 36% compared to 184 million USD in 2019. The main export markets were the USA, the Netherlands, Canada, and China.
Peruvian tangerine export increased for 11 export markets, and the top five export markets are as follows: the USA (125 million USD, an increase of 52%), the Netherlands (25 million USD, an increase of 19%), Canada (17.8 million USD, an increase of 15%), China (15.7 million USD, an increase of 40%), and Russia (13.2 million USD, an increase of 90%). Due in part to the growing export of Peruvian tangerines, the overall export volume of Peruvian fruit reached a total of 244,800 tons last year. The export value last year was around 262 million USD, which was an increase of 37% compared to the previous year.
