Alcampo removes plastic from the packaging of its sweet onions quality brand

Alcampo has presented the new recyclable and plastic-free container for the sweet onions it sells under the Alcampo Controlled Production brand. This packaging is made entirely of paper from sustainably managed forests, paper mesh, and bamboo.

The company estimates that, compared to the previous packaging, this new packaging solution will reduce the use of plastic by 6,000 kg per year.

The company designed this new container with Jumosol Fruits SL, the company that supplies them with sweet onions from Fuentes de Ebro, Zaragoza, and that Alcampo sells in all its stores under its quality brand.

"We are as passionate for bringing sweet onions with an extraordinary mild flavor from the field to the table as we are committed to the environment. We are very aware of the importance of using sustainable packaging. This is our contribution to building a better world," stated Daniel Molina, director of Jumosol.

"Alcampo is firmly committed to offering our products in increasingly sustainable packaging. The work we've developed with Jumosol to incorporate innovative solutions aimed at sustainable development is an example of fruitful and enriching alliances," stated Sergio Roman, the head of Alcampo Controlled Production.
