Ten days earlier at the farm Guidi

Terre di Romagna artichokes are already being harvested

Thanks to a very early variety and cultivation techniques aimed at anticipating the harvest, the Guidi farm located in Forlì, Italy, has just kicked off the artichoke season. "The selling phase will start straightaway, we are amazed by the earliness achieved this year,” said the owner Roberto Guidi.

Thanks to the climatic conditions of January and mid-February, with above average temperatures, and thanks to a new particular variety whose name is secretly protected by the company, the harvest started on 18 March 2021, which is an unusual date for the area of Romagna.

"We currently have about 10 hectares under production, with plans to increase next year. The product is much appreciated and this year we are also benefiting from the earliness,” pointed out Guidi.

The product can be purchased bulk or in cellophane trays of 4-pieces. "The yield is abundant and the quality is excellent. Artichokes are a seasonal product and the harvest will go on throughout April and even into early May."

After the first round of crop testing during 2019, the first real harvest took place in 2020. This year sees further proof that artichokes will be available to the large-scale retail trade under the Terra di Romagna brand. "It's a brand that enhances not only the product but also the territory in which it is grown. It is one of our registered trademarks that is obtaining great success on a national level and also includes poultry, as well as fruit and vegetables".

"Harvesting and processing are carried out following all the standards and protocols of our certifications, not least the requirements due to the pandemic," concluded Guidi.
