Recently, Zespri revealed the launch of their red kiwifruit variety in the Chinese mainland market. Pagoda has been chosen as their exclusive partner in this market.
As the world's leading kiwifruit brand, Zespri has been developing the red variety for a few years. Considering the shorter shipping distance, this product is to be first launched in the Asian market. During the earlier trial in Singapore, consumers expressed their satisfaction with the appearance and taste of the new product. Compared with Zespri SunGold and Green, the red variety is smaller in size with red flesh. The taste is layered with a strong hint of berry, and it has high anthocyanin content and strong antioxidant properties.
Zespri Red has not yet entered mass production, and the volumes are small. This year, only about 20,000 boxes will be marketed in mainland China. The product is expected to become available in mid-April with only a two-month marketing period. In addition to all the physical Pagoda stores in Shanghai, the product will also be marketed in Zespri’s Tmall flagship store.
