Rangpur lychee trees are flowering nicely this season, making growers happy with a prospect of bumper production of the juicy fruit in Rangpur agriculture region.
Officials from the Department of Agricultural Extension said that about 85% of the lychee trees in the orchards and homes on about 1,800 hectares of land in all five regions of the region have already blossomed, and the process has been proceeding smoothly.
In recent years, farmers have been expanding commercial lychee cultivation every year after repeated harvests at high market prices, because in the past 12 years, many people have changed their lives via lychee cultivation.
The region’s growers have already become busy with agronomic management in their lychee orchards to ensure better production of the fruit though the flowering process will continue till the middle of March across the region.
