"The cultivation of strawberries has increased in recent years, thanks in part, to genetics, allowing the fruit to be grown with an extended season. The strawberry used to be grown only in spring, but now in some areas this has been extended to 10 months a year," said Virginia Cascella, export manager at Italian PND.
"This meets the demand for fresh strawberries on the one hand and the demand of the processing industry and even the cosmetics industry on the other. There is therefore an increasing demand for machines to process this crop, from the removal of leaves to cutting it in halves and quarters".

"For the processing industry, we have a machine that uncrops strawberries, available in model DF12 or DF24. This machine is very much appreciated and we are proud of that. This machine was made five years ago and 83 of them have already been sold across five continents. Companies in the United States, Mexico, South America, Great Britain, Spain, Ukraine, South Korea, Egypt and Australia have chosen our machine. This is because large quantities of strawberries can be processed at high speed and waste is kept to a minimum," said Cascella.
"The traditional decorticating machines on the market produce 30% waste. With a PND machine this can be reduced to 12%. Our model DF12 can process 300 strawberries per minute and the model DF24 up to 600 strawberries," said Cascella.

"Our machine can be set in different ways, allowing a wide range of strawberries to be processed, thanks to a diameter that goes from 18 to 55 millimetres. This makes the machine particularly appreciated in places where crops go directly from the field to the facility," concluded Cascella.
