Norwegian tomato production increased last year by 660,000 kilos, which corresponds to an increase of just over 5 percent.
Nearly 13,300 tonnes of tomatoes were produced in Norwegian greenhouses last year. These are very gratifying figures for a demanding year, says Bjarte Aasbø of GrøntProdusentenes Samarbeidsråd in a press release.
The tomato imports fell from 2019 to 2020, which meant that the market share of Norwegian tomatoes increased by 2 percentage points. In July, Norwegian tomatoes had a share of sales of 75 percent.
Norwegian tomato production takes place mainly in Rogaland. Most of the production takes place from May to October.
