The Northern Territory Farmers Association 
has partnered with ORDCO to bring Australia's key stakeholders, thought leaders and investors together to participate in the Food Futures Conference in Darwin in May, with a focus on realizing a billion-dollar industry by 2030. Paul Burke, CEO of the association, outlined the key issues and challenges on the agenda.
The opportunity for sustainable agricultural development has never been more important or important. With the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the reduction of government revenues at all levels of government, it is important to re-examine the opportunities for agricultural development in North Australia.
Agriculture has the potential to drive our regional economies through jobs, investment and increased farm gate revenues to support and enable government expenditure on services that are critical for a functioning society, such as health, education, roads and law enforcement.
With development comes the responsibility for caring for our country and ensuring that these developments are sustainable and minimise risk to the environment.
