According to the People's Daily, the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (ThaiCC) recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Chinese International Trade Promotion Committee and the Chinese Inspection and Authorization Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The signing ceremony was hosted by the ThaiCC at their Guanghua Tang Convention Hall.
Lin Chuqin, the chairman of the ThaiCC, stated during the ceremony that the ThaiCC and the Chinese International Trade Promotion Committee will work hard to create even more commercial opportunities for Thai and Chinese importers and exporters. This strategic cooperation agreement further strengthens the commercial cooperation between China and Thailand.
The Chinese commercial attache in Thailand, Wang Liping, stated that the strategic cooperation agreement heralds a new age of cooperation between the two nations. Even more Thai fruit products will find their way into the Chinese market. This agreement creates a platform that simplifies cross-border trade and investment between the two countries.
In addition, footmate.net reports that Atkorn, an advisor to the Thai minister of agriculture and cooperatives, stated that the value of Thai fruit export to China still exceeded 2 billion USD last year, despite the the outbreak of Covid-19. The strategic cooperation agreement raises the product quality standards for Thai fruit and synchronizes the import regulations between China and Thailand.
The government of Thailand organized a forum with NGOs and corporations to discuss raising the product quality standards in the Thai fruit industry. The government also plans to raise the level of production technology and improve the track-and-trace and distribution systems. Finally, the Thai government aims to strengthen the integration of online and offline (O2O) marketing and retail, and improve the convenience of customs operations at four main checkpoints.
This year, Thailand plans to export fruit to China with a total value exceeding 2.3 billion USD.
