UK free-buy trade has been reportedly slow this week, as snow keeps consumers at home. The packing sector remains to be the most dominant sector, as opportunities to eat out-of-home are still curbed.
Though hope remains for the processing and bags sectors especially, as more people are receiving the vaccination every day.
2020 crop - Packing
The UK packing trade remains to be fulfilled mostly on contract this week. Maris Piper is still seen to be the consumer’s favoured variety as the high-end prices’ firm week-on-week, gaining £10/t in England and £20/t in Scotland.
Some reports of the sector starting to feel a little downward pressure on price are surfacing, though prices remain relatively unmoved week-on-week.
