Bielefeld-based producer and marketer Frische aus Westfalen is already well established in the German fruit and vegetable sector. Two years ago, the company started logistics for its own products. Two days ago, the starting signal sounded for its own logistics company, Frische Logistik LLC. We spoke to Frische aus Westfalen Managing Director Sebastian Dörmann: "We had been considering a logistics division for our own and third party products for some time. Just five minutes away from our production site, an owner gave up his site and we took it over, including vehicles and staff."
"This is what it looked like at our site yesterday afternoon - The calm before the storm! Since then, the first night has passed. We want to thank you all for your trust and reliability," the new company's Facebook page read yesterday.
Now the company has an additional hall with an area of 2000m² with cold storage, a fleet of vehicles and eleven ramp gates at which picking and loading can take place 24 hours a day: "This way we offer our customers maximum flexibility, from cross-docking to full loads, everything is possible." And right from the start, things got busy: "We deliver to all kinds of German food retailers every day."
Frische Logistik is purely about fruit and vegetable logistics, and wants to keep it that way: "With our own logistics specialists, the staff of our predecessor and new experts, we combine decades of experience in the transport of fruit and vegetables in our company."
Dörmann concludes, "As a long-time producer and marketer of vegetables, we know what it means to take the produce out of our own hands. We know what is important in the logistics of fresh produce and what we have always wished for in other forwarders. Now we combine all the know-how, from the field to the central warehouse."
