The different contact groups created within the framework of the Spanish-Franco-Italian-Portuguese Joint Committee will start their 2021 meetings on February 16. The strawberry group will be the first contact group to meet, and the meeting will be held online.
Representatives of the strawberry sector organizations from France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain, as well as government representatives from these countries, will participate in the strawberry contact group that will be hosted by FEPEX and FRESHUELVA.
The rest of the groups, which include garlic, tomato, peach-nectarine, apple, and citrus, are expected to meet during the first half of the year so that the plenary session of the Joint Committee can analyze all their agreements when they meet in June. Last year, due to the pandemic, the 2020 Joint Committee was not held, but the product groups did take place.
The contact groups are made up of representatives of the sectors of the countries that make up the Joint Committee, and they are responsible for their respective administrations. They analyze the campaigns and specific issues of each product, agreeing on joint actions that are then approved in the plenary session of the Joint Committee.
FEPEX and the integrated Associations have promoted and participated in practically all the contact groups and plenaries of the Joint Committee that have been developed since said Committee was constituted in December 1997.
