Primaflor

Lettuce and spinach, the vegetables that Spanish consumers prefer the most

According to Primaflor's First Greenlovers Observatory, last autumn, Spanish consumers preferred lettuce and spinach over other vegetables. A survey conducted among Primaflor consumers ranks these vegetables to the top positions with 69% and 20% consumer preference, respectively, relegating chard to the last place, with 11%.

81% of the people surveyed said the most important factor when choosing which vegetable to purchase was its taste. 9% said it was its price. Other aspects taken into consideration are the product's texture (6%) or type of packaging (4%).

53% of the people surveyed buy fresh vegetables (by pieces or in bulk) compared to 6% who prefer to buy frozen vegetables.

According to the study, 54% of the people surveyed prefer to consume these vegetables raw, to avoid losing nutrients; 20% cook them, and only 7% decide to bake them. 20% of the people said they like to grill their vegetables.

Most people said they liked to serve a good lettuce salad or a nutritious spinach dish at lunch and dinner. In addition, 58% said they ate these vegetables with their family, more than with their significant other or friends.

IV range
Asked about the options offered by Primaflor, 34% of consumers preferred the classic Cesar salad, which is made with a vegetable base of 100% romaine lettuce, Parmesan cheese, chicken, and croutons. It was followed by the Chicken Wrap (31%), which are wheat tortillas with smooth escarole, radicchio, green Batavia, tomato, chicken, Edam and Cheddar cheeses, and a yogurt sauce. The Caprese salad ranked third with 19%, followed by the Lazos & Arugula salad with 10%.

Primaflor also inquired about the ingredients that make up these salads and discovered that the consumers' preferred toppings are cheese, chicken, and nuts. In addition, 47% said that mezclum was the coolest vegetable base for a packaged salad.
