The existing business areas will remain in the trusted hands of the respective partner. Previous success factors, such as logistics solutions that reduce CO2 consumption and the plastic content of packaging, will be further expanded and optimised together. In the areas of digitalisation, certification and product innovation, the two companies will also pursue joint paths in the future. Customers and suppliers have already responded with great enthusiasm.
Two partners with stature
For more than 60 years, bardini+keller ag has been on the market and thus one of the most consistent and reliable partners of the food retail trade. Following the Swiss model, the industry professional has long since made a name for itself for its precise logistics performance and its in-depth quality management in fruit and vegetable distribution. Currently, bardini+keller ag already operates in more than seven EU countries as well as Switzerland with a complete range of products from more than 15 countries for the food retail trade, gastronomy and the processing industry.
Even after 17 years in management, CEO Erich Stadler does not want to rest on his laurels. With regular investments in digitalisation, SAP ERP system and certificate security, bardini+keller ag has built a strong foundation and the company is ready for the future. The next step is to strengthen and expand the distribution network. In order to continue the successful growth course, the alliance with Verdeimport AG is now taking place.
Verdeimport AG has been the Swiss specialist for fresh asparagus and blueberries from Latin America for 25 years. CEO Siegbert Wiehl already recognised the potential of Peru and Mexico 15 years ago and established a reliable and high-quality supply chain from the overseas producer to the shelves of the food retail trade in Austria.
grocery store shelves in Austria and Switzerland. At the core of this success is the rapid adaptation to the latest logistics solutions that reduce CO2 consumption and cut the amount of plastic used in packaging. Another success factor is the diversification in sales packaging and thus the flexibility to respond to customer requests for private labels.
"An alliance that bears fruit"
Under this slogan, bardini+keller ag and Verdeimport AG have been combining their strong infrastructure, in-depth know-how and precise logistics for selected products since the beginning of the year. SAP systems, certificates and distribution networks are also to be shared.
The aim is to optimally use and expand the synergies between the vegetable and fruit distribution from Latin America of Verdeimport AG with the European distribution network of bardini+keller ag. The existing business areas will remain in the trusted hands of the respective partner.
High-tech from the field to the shelf
Together, the companies will continue to promote CO2 reduction, economical packaging and product innovations. In the past, significant amounts of plastic could be saved through the use of top sealing.
In close coordination, the already successful packaging solutions for the food retail trade and its private labels will also be further expanded. The fierce competition for consumers requires maximum flexibility in order to react quickly to customer wishes, packaging quantities and dynamic prices.
Heart and soul for quality
The heart of bardini+keller ag and Verdeimport AG, however, is the people and their close network of relationships with customers, producers and transporters. Over the years, a deep trust and mutual respect has been built up along the value chain. Honest cooperation, working together as partners and finding innovative solutions together have always been the focus. This core competence is not only the solid foundation for the success of the two players, but will also continue to play the main role in the alliance.
It is no wonder, then, that the market perceives the alliance as a welcome win-win situation. Customers as well as suppliers have already reacted to this step with great enthusiasm, because the two partners are not only known for their high quality, but also for their reliability. In turbulent times in particular, stable and reliable partners are needed.
