Planasa and Priméale join forces to market fresh asparagus in France

Planasa's subsidiary in France, Planasa France, and Priméale, a subsidiary of the Agrial group, have signed a partnership agreement whereby Priméale will become the exclusive commercial partner of Planasa for the marketing of fresh asparagus, mainly of the white type, during the next three campaigns (2021-2023).

Planasa France cultivates 170 hectares of different varieties, mainly the Darzilla, with which they hope to produce 700 tons of white asparagus. These asparagus will be marketed under the Domaine Saint Jacques and Priméale brands and will be available in the main retailers in France.

Present at the signing of the agreement were Frederic Faillieres, Business Director for Northern Europe and Operations Director in France, and Siebrand Broens, Planasa's Fresh Products commercial director at EMEA. Priméale was represented by the director of Sales and Marketing of Les Essentiels, Christophe Charvieux.

For Planasa's commercial managers, this agreement entails "collaborating with the largest agricultural cooperative in France in the field of vegetables, and in particular in that of asparagus. It will lead to a concentration of the supply in the asparagus market and to the generation of more value in the production chain. We are also accomplishing our desire to join the two main French producer associations (Maisadour and Copadax). Priméale will help us not only in improving the value of our asparagus varieties and our role as breeders, but also in promoting our Domaine Saint Jacques brand and our HVE (High Environmental Value) certification."

Priméale works with the prime range vegetables of the Agrial Cooperative Group and is a big player in the fresh vegetable sector, with products like carrots, potatoes, leeks and asparagus. Priméale aims to offer the best fresh vegetables to consumers. 750,000 tons of its products are sold in Europe and it has 6,900 employees and 17 production sites in Europe and Africa.

Planasa is an international company, leader in the agro-food sector, specialized in plant research, nurseries and fresh products. With some 1,500 hectares of land, it is one of the largest nurseries in the world and the world's leading producer of fresh endives.
