"Our Kradum Thong durian from Thailand will enter the Chinese market for the first time this year"

The outbreak of Covid-19 does have an impact on durian export, but the impact on Thai durian exports are limited. This is mainly because Chinese market demand is extremely forceful." According to manager Xie: "This season's first harvest of Kradum Thong durian already entered the Chinese market. The overall product quality is good. The product quality is better than last season. We sell our durian via traditional retail channels and on e-commerce platforms under our own brand 'Gold Anda'. Our durian are available in wholesale markets and supermarkets in first- and second-tier cities throughout China.

"The Kradum Thong durian is one of the most authentic durian varieties from Thailand. There has been no gene manipulation or hybridization. The harvest season begins every year in March and the harvest is more than abundant. The flavor of this durian variety is more concentrated than the flavor of Mon Thong durian. The Chinese import volume of Kradum Thong durian is quite small compared to the import volumes of other durian varieties, but the Kradum Thong durian is very popular with Chinese consumers."

The durian industry in Thailand occupies a major position in the Chinese market and in order to maintain that position people in the industry work hard to develop new durian varieties, improve plantation technology, and expand retail channels. For example, the development of cross-border trade on Alibaba platforms offers exciting opportunities for exporters of Thai durian. In addition, the government of Thailand values cross-border cooperation between online traders in China and Thailand. The Thai Minister of Commerce, Jurin Laksanawisit, appeared in an online live-stream event to give Chinese consumers an introduction to Thai fruits such as durian, mangosteen, and mango.
