HDG The Fruit Consultants celebrates 40th anniversary

In 1981, Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the 40th US president, AZ won the title for the first time, and Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer. But it didn't stop there. Expertise bureau Harmsen & De Groot also saw the light. On 1 August this year, this company, which changed its name in 2012 to Expertisebureau HDG, is blowing out out 40 candles. "Unfortunately due to Corona there will be no party for the time being, but we hope to make up for that later," promises director Rob Boogmans (employed since 1985).

Over the years, Expertisebureau HDG has undergone significant growth, but always focused on the field of expertise and quality inspections of fruit and vegetables. "With our head office in the port of Rotterdam, we are still on top of the fruit arrivals, but now we also have subsidiaries in Valencia, Hamburg and Shanghai," says Rob.

"Our colleagues from HDG Services have recently continued as Fruitify Experts, which means that customers can better distinguish between them, but HDG The Fruit Consultants is still up and running after 40 years. We enjoy a strong reputation, which we guarantee with, among other things, the ISO 9001 certificate, with NIVRE Register Experts, with which we demonstrate that our processes and personnel meet international standards and that we make a great effort to continuously improve our services."

The digitization rate has also risen sharply over the years. “For that reason, we developed our QC4U application, an innovative quality control tool, back in 2013. By using our smart application, the control process is greatly facilitated. QC4U makes it possible to collect quality data from the grower to the end customer. In addition, all relevant data can be selected in order to produce consistent and clear reports for our customers and their trading partners."

"More and more customers want to receive an overview per commodity, supplier, grower or variety at any time, but particularly at the end of the season at the touch of a button. This analysis tool is standard for all our customers. All results are summarised in an easy to understand way. The data can be exported to your own storage system or sent by email to all stakeholders. This really fulfills a need," Rob concludes. "The real craftsmanship has remained the same over 40 years, but nowadays we can do this work with the most advanced tools."
