Recently, the previous strong market of storage garlic wavered and prices dropped slightly. The volume on the market remains high, and the pressure to sell on the supply side remains heavy before the Spring Festival. Wholesale distributors are making regular purchases and have not purchased large volumes for the upcoming holiday. As traders in part of the sales areas are not optimistic about the market outlook, the holiday effect on the market may be weakened.
In addition, according to weather forecasts, in the coming weeks, parts of China will encounter another cold snap and temperatures will drop by more than ten degrees at some point, which may again cause freezing of garlic seedlings. Judging from the current market performance, although the Spring Festival is approaching, there are not many factors that can drive up garlic prices. Purchases are mostly driven by rigid demand. Traders of storage garlic still have expectations for the pre-holiday market and are resistant against the prices offered.
