Last week (January 3-9), the overall banana market was steady with slight increases. Prices in production areas varied with quality. The price of high-quality products was good with slight increases, while that of products affected by the cold weather fell slightly.
In the first part of the week, traders made purchases of good-quality goods, and shipment was active. In the second half of the week, affected by the cold weather, market-side consumption was not active, and shipment in Yunnan and Myanmar slowed down slightly, but prices remained unchanged.
At present, as a whole, prices in Myanmar and Laos are the highest among the production areas, and the competitiveness of Chinese production areas is relatively low, but good-quality products from Yunnan are still fetching over 3 yuan per kilo, and quality is still the biggest selling point.
The market in the Yunnan production area remained stable this week. The price of high-quality products not affected by the cold weather rose slightly, while the price of affected products fell. In the earlier period, shipments were active and traders asked after good-quality products. In the later period, due to the cold weather, shipment slowed down slightly. The market in Guangdong remained stable - the overall supply was small, and prices didn’t see much fluctuation, with those of good-quality products rising slightly.
