Automated packaging is becoming more and more popular in the Chinese agricultural industry, with a growing number of packaging facilities and farms investing in automated weighing and packaging equipment for food products. Mesh bag manufacturers have seen increasing demand for their products because of this trend in automated packaging.
Annie, a spokesperson for specialized mesh bag manufacturer Shandong Fullway Import & Export Co., Ltd., recently talked about the automation revolution in the packaging industry and changes in demand from overseas markets.
"Our products include stretch wrap and single mesh bags (2kg-75kg). Our products are suitable for a wide variety of agricultural products such as potatoes, onions, carrots, and garlic," said Annie. "Mesh bags can be distinguished on the basis of their pattern. There are three main patterns: knitted, plain weave, and circular weave. Clients in Russia and the Ukraine prefer knitted mesh bags made of PE. Clients in South America prefer circular weave mesh bags made of PP. In the Netherlands and Germany our clients prefer traditional plain weave mesh bags made of PP. Clients also have diverse requirements for labels, colors, sizes, and weights. We can custom-make mesh bags to satisfy the client's requirements."
When asked about the advantages of Fullway Import & Export, Annie replied: "First, one of the main problems in the industry is the technology required to punch holes. We purchased the appropriate equipment and added a dedicated production line to our manufacturing facility. After several improvements, we have now perfected the hole punching technology in our factory. We can meet any demand from our clients.
"Second, there is a common trend in the industry to recycle used mesh bags. Although these bags are cheaper, they are also less flexible than new bags. They may also carry over some of the smell of previous products. And the product quality can not be guaranteed. Mesh bags made from raw material are more flexible, smoother, and the color is brighter. There is no leftover impact from previous usage."
The period from June until August is the time of year when agricultural production areas in the northern hemisphere harvest potatoes and onions. That is also the peak period of the Fullway export season. At the peak, the weekly export volume can reach around 10 shipping containers. Although the outbreak of Covid-19 has had an impact on the global market, the export volume of Fullway did not decline but expanded instead.
According to Annie, "China was able to bring the spread of Covid-19 to a halt. Factories have resumed operations as usual, and there is more than enough supply of raw materials. This also attracted the attention of clients from South America and Africa who were used to purchasing mesh bags from factories in South Asia and Southeast Asia. They turn their attention to China instead. Our order volume was more than sufficient during the pandemic, although we are now experiencing problems with shipping. Containers are hard to find and the cost price of shipping is rapidly rising."

"Although the outbreak of Covid-19 makes distribution, import, and export more difficult, we still strive to deliver our products within 30 days.
