The federal government of Mexico extradited Carlos Alberto Murillo Torres, a Mexican citizen, to Spain where he will be prosecuted for his alleged responsibility in crimes against health and for being part of a criminal organization.
According to investigations by the Spanish authorities, between February and April of 2014, Murillo Torres sent various shipments of cocaine hidden in pineapple and yucca containers from Costa Rica on cargo ships that arrived at different ports in Spain.
The Spanish investigators located Murillo Torres in Mexican territory and requested local authorities capture him.
The alleged drug trafficker was handed over to Spanish authorities at Mexico City's International Airport and will appear before Madrid's Central Court of Instruction Number 6.
