On Wednesday, the first pile for the new Karpack Verpakkingen building went into the ground at Roosendaal on the Borchwerf. Director Jan-Willem Passer symbolically drove the first pole into the ground together with his son Ralph (8).
Once the expansion is in place, scheduled for September 2021, it will add 14,000 square meters of production space. “Of course in the same style as our existing black-gray checkered building,” says Jan-Willem. “We will soon be connecting the new building to our existing building by means of a pallet / walkway. But the piles will go into the ground first, 265 in total and another 3,200 vibro piles.”

The plans for the expansion have been in the works for some time at Karpack. "Three years ago we had already bought the piece of land next to our current location, but for a long time there was a boom in construction and that meant more costs." Now, at the end of 2021, the step will be taken.
“Our cardboard packaging is doing well on the market. There is a lot of demand from the retail sector, the sale of cardboard boxes for tomatoes, for example, is increasingly being supplied all year round because the seasons have been stretched due to the lighted cultivation and we have also grown considerably in e-commerce in recent years. Add to this the fact that retailers are much more likely to use cardboard insert trays and small packaging that replace plastic. In that respect, we also benefit from the sustainability trend in the packaging world. ”
