"Brussels sprouts market improves, kale's selling steadily, and celeriac's doing unusually well"

Dutch open field vegetable trading is going quite well at the moment. These include Brussel sprouts and curly leaf kale. "Sprout sales were a bit down for a fortnight. But the market's picking up again now. There's quite a bit of export supply of other products on the market. Supermarkets are, however, currently selling a lot of cooking vegetables. People are eating in this festive season," says Mike Glas from Glas Groenten in the Netherlands.

"In England, Brussel sprouts have been on Christmas menus for many years. There aren't even that many festive sales planned for these. I just hope normal sales will still get a boost. Sprout prices are actually just a little too low. For the curly leaf kale, we've fixed prices for the whole season. Celeriac sales are also going well. They've been good for the last two weeks," concludes Mike.
