Kadapa district is one of the thirteen districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Due to cyclone Nivar, the district has suffered losses worth Rs 1.65 bln (€18.2 mln) to the agricultural sector.
According to Agriculture Department sources, traditional, commercial and horticulture crops on 137,000 acres were damaged. The officials said crop loss was estimated as per scale of relief between Rs 5,000-15,000 per hectare and the farmers will get Rs 2,000-6,000 compensation per acre.
Paddy crops grown on 27,225 hectares in 275 villages were damaged in the district. Horticulture crops like banana, papaya, sweet lemon and mango in 5,000 hectares were damaged as well.
