The Chilean company PacLife opens an after-sales support office in China

"China is the largest market to demand modified atmosphere packaging"

Due to the South American exporters' increase in demand for modified atmosphere packaging for their fruit shipments to the Chinese market, the Chilean manufacturer PacLife has decided to open an office in China to provide support and attention to any customer that requires it.

It's after-sales support abroad that will allow us to deliver results and more information to our clients. We've been able to do this thanks to the work of our Product Manager in Asia, Mr. Felipe Acosta, who will also be in charge of visiting the most important markets in China when the fruit and vegetable shipments arrive there,” stated Cristian Parra, PacLife's commercial manager.

"Achieving this was a great challenge and we are very satisfied because having someone in China that checks and certifies that everything arrives in good condition is fundamental for our clients and us," Mr. Parra added.

"Unlike the European and North American markets, where the profit margins of products such as blueberries are increasingly tighter and that increasingly opt for macro-perforated or pallet-type bulk containers, China is the largest market that demands packaging with modified atmosphere. Chinese importers demand this type of packaging because they realized that the product arrives in optimal conditions and that it also guarantees the product's safety,” Cristian Parra said.

“The case of cherries is, no doubt, the most interesting one. Regardless of their destination, almost all shipments are sent using modified atmosphere packaging. However, almost all of the Chilean cherry production is sent to China. More and more of the products sent to China are being packaged with this technology. PacLife's packaging is patented; it includes nanotechnology that effectively controls the ripening of the fruit, and microorganisms, generating a favorable environment so that the fruit reaches its destination as fresh as possible,” he said.

These offices in China will allow PacLife to deliver information at the destination, as well as at origin. “Now we can see first-hand how the final consumer receives the fruit. We believe that we can be an objective entity. We want to complement and exceed the expectations of our clients,” Mr. Parra concluded.
