On November 8, witnessed by Luis Schmidt Montes, the Chilean ambassador to China, Hema signed an import order for 1 million boxes of Chilean cherries with representatives of Chilean companies. Next year, Hema promises to make a total of approximately 280 million-yuan-worth of orders from Chile's top ten cherries suppliers, including Copefrut, Prize, and Garces Fruit. This is also Hema's largest sourcing plan for fresh produce from Latin America this year.
In this sourcing plan, Hema and two Chilean companies, Copefrut and Prize, reached a direct sourcing agreement for the first time. Hema will directly source cherries from local plantations, saving a large amount of cost and time consumed in the intermediate import links. In order to start a cooperation indirect sourcing, Hema also agreed to adopt the real-time market price to guide its purchase price and bear the risk cost of import and distribution, in order to bring fresher and more competitive imported fruits to Chinese consumers.
In addition to cherry, avocado, as one of the trendy fruits, is also the sourcing target of Hema. During the CIIE this year, the Hema global sourcing team and the Colombian avocado cooperative agent, Mr. Avocado, reached an import sourcing intention of 20 million yuan.
