Chinese citrus companies signed $82-million-worth of export contracts

The first virtual International Citrus Buyers Conference took place in Yichang, where 103 buyers from 27 countries and regions associated with the Belt and Road initiative had business discussions with six citrus companies from Yichang, reaching international purchases agreements for nearly 110,000 tons of citrus and citrus products with a total value of 82 million US dollars.

Yichang has been renowned as the “Hometown of Citrus" since ancient times. Today, the total value of the industry has reached 14 billion yuan is home to three major GI brands - Yichang mandarin, Zigui navel orange, and Qingjiang ponkan as well as well-known brands such as Xiaoxihong, Tulaohan and Qugu. Its citrus is marketed in China and abroad, and is widely appreciated by consumers.

This conference opened a new model of online and offline integrated development. It is hoped that this will open up an opportunity for more citrus from Yichang to go global and allow more overseas consumers to understand China and fall in love with Yichang. Prior to the conference, key citrus export companies in the city also held three online sessions with international buyers, which achieved positive results.
