For the first time, cucumbers grown in greenhouses in the Moscow region have been exported to the European Union. Russian news source RIAMO shares this news in an interview with the Moscow region Minister of Agriculture and Food, Andrei Razin.
According to Andrei Razin, this year, new export destinations have been opened for products from the Moscow region. "Austria, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, Norway, Slovenia, the Philippines, Switzerland and Argentina," he says. "And last week, our cucumbers were delivered to the European Union from greenhouses near Moscow for the first time."
He explains that most food sold in the Moscow region is produced in the region itself. China has been an important export market that is still growing and now more and more markets are opening up.
For EU suppliers, it hasn't been possible to export fruits and vegetables to Russia since 2014, when a boycott was put into place. Russia has greatly invested in its own horticultural industry ever since.
