A netted melon project in line with market demand

The dynamism of the fresh produce market requires increasing attention towards production, especially as the pandemic makes life hard for the sector. In line with the increasing demand for domestic produce, Med Hermes Vegetable Seeds presents the "Best Melon" project focusing on fully-Italian netted melons.

"Best Melon" is part of a wider "premium" range project started 5 years ago with the www.Tomatocult.com brand/Blog. Two varieties for early transplants are used: LSL green rind Dafne F1 and yellow rind Finzia F1 are now part of the large product catalogue.

"Both varieties were popular during the previous 2019 and 2020 campaigns, from both an agronomic and commercial point of view as they are among the most productive varieties on the market with a sugar level above 14° Brix and great shelf-life."

Andrea Restuccia, International Product Manager Med Hermes

In light of the great results obtained and the attention of the market aimed increasingly towards Italian products and production areas, it emerges that the "Best Melon" project fully meets common needs.

"Best Melon guarantees 4 main characteristics of the premium products - good, healthy, checked, Italian. Dafne F1 has a wide cultivation calendar with transplants in January/February in Sicily, February/March in Campania and late February/March in Mantua."

"Final consumers can find 100% Italian premium products on the shelves of the big retail chains between April and July. The www.bestmelon.net blog is a virtual container where users can find additional information made available by the producers part of the project. In addition, it implements a transparent communication process between producers and consumers."

The objective of Med Hermes remains that of promoting the rediscovery of the flavors and colors of the Mediterranean tradition within a fully Italian project.
