The Spanish company Citrus Nostrum, which is producing an estimated 400,000 kilos of shelled almonds in this 2020 campaign, and which has approximately 350 hectares, located mainly in the provinces of Seville, Córdoba and Huelva, is presenting the new certification for its almonds: 100% Sweet Almond or "bitter almond-free."
"This new seal has been accredited by the certification company Acerta Certificación SL with the aim of responding to the demand for food safety from an increasingly professional sector, oriented towards the production and marketing of, only and exclusively, natural and bitter-free almonds," says Francisco Guanter, technical director of Citrus Nostrum. "The 100% Sweet Almond seal, from Citrus Nostrum, therefore guarantees a bitter almond-free marketing," he says.
Founded in 2008, and a specialist in fruits, vegetables and nuts, SAT 9996 Citrus Nostrum has a wide range of monovarietal farms under this certification, including Marcona, Lauranne, Antoñeta, Marta, Guara, Ferragnes, Marinada, Soleta and Bellona.
"The certification process is based on a strict protocol where each and every one of the risk variables is taken into consideration, with a meticulous system of internal audits and control inspections in the producing farms. Also, amygdalin analyses are carried out in all batches for sale, so the absence of bitter almonds is guaranteed," says Francisco Guanter.
