Planasa Polska starts supplying strawberry plants

The commercial plant nursery that the Planasa group has in Poland (with Ostrowo as the plant production center), which serves the Italian, Greek, Moroccan and Albanian markets, mainly with strawberry plants, has started supplying producers in these areas.

After the visit of the Planitalia commercial team to the group's facilities in Poland, the commercial director of Planitalia, Nino Foraboschi, told freshplaza.it that “we have verified the quality of the strawberry plants that have been produced this year in Poland. They are excellent, so we praise our colleagues at the nursery for their work.”

Foraboschi says that the strawberry plants from Planasa nurseries in Poland are “at their optimum state of maturity, ready for their uprooting and subsequent delivery to Italy. Their quality is good both in terms of size and root development. This will have a very positive impact on the campaign's results for those who are betting on varieties such as the Sabrosa (Candonga®), Sabrina and the new Plared 0639."

Gaetano La Rocca, Sales Manager in the Italian region of Campania, is involved in PlanItalia's renovation and development project. He believes that the key to the campaign's results for the varieties that PlanItalia is offering to producers lies “in the experience and the quality of the service in the supply of plants.” Loris Gentile, Sales Manager for Basilicata and Calabria, who is also working in the project, believes that "the Sabrosa and Sabrina varieties will continue to be the flagship for the producers of Basilicata and Calabria."

Varieties
The Sabrosa (Candonga®) and Sabrina are the main varieties sold by Planasa on the Italian market. They are consolidated varieties with a stable performance each season. To these we have added the Plared 0639, which "has achieved excellent results in the 2019-2020 season," according to Nino Foraboschi.

The former, planted mainly in the region of Basilicata, is especially appreciated in Italy for its flavor, quality and profitability due to its good performance. Not surprisingly, several Italian producers have shown their satisfaction with the Sabrosa-Candonga production last season.

The great productivity and organoleptic quality of the Sabrina make it a safe bet for Italian producers, who have also been given the chance this season to innovate with the Plared 0639, whose commercial name is to be announced in the coming weeks. “Planasa has a long history as a breeder and this is appreciated by the Italian strawberry sector. Furthermore, the Candonga and Sabrina have obtained good results this year, and with the Plared 0639 we seek to achieve that precocity that the market also demands. Therefore, it should be possible to obtain good prices while maintaining a high quality standard,” says the commercial director of PlanItalia.

With these varieties, and putting care in the production process of the plants in the nursery, PlanItalia and the Planasa group aim to help producers in obtaining superior returns on their crops and positioning themselves in the market in the new strawberry season.
