The municipality of Adra will soon be the location of a new fresh-cut fruit and vegetable processing plant, which was commissioned by Alhóndiga La Unión and the food technology specialist NiceTech, and which will create 70 jobs, as announced by the Almeria town council.
This project, which has required an investment of 18.5 million Euro, will result in "the first European plant devoted to the production of frozen fruit and vegetables" that is built through a process that guarantees, on the one hand, that the product reaches the consumer with all quality guarantees and, on the other, that it preserves its properties and flavor intact.
The plant, still under construction, was recently visited by the mayor of Adra, Manuel Cortés, who was accompanied by the general director of Alhóndiga La Unión, Jesús Barranco. "At the City Council, we have supported this innovative project from the very start, because it is important for Adra and is generating new opportunities for the agricultural sector," said the mayor. For his part, Barranco said that the initiative is a breakthrough for Almeria's agriculture and that it will set new trends in the consumption of fruit and vegetables. "Through technology, the products will preserve all the original qualities that they are known for in the province," he said.
