Russian retailer Lenta has announced that it has opened 2 new hypermarkets in Saint-Petersburg. The new openings take the total number of Lenta hypermarkets across Russia to 250. The retailer also operates 135 supermarkets in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and the Central region. One of the new stores is located at 10 Kollontay street and has a total area of 7,140 square metres, with 4,295 square metres of selling space. The second store, located in 32 Kolpinskoe highway, is spread across an area of 7,854 square metres, with 4,099 square metres of selling space.

The boss of Tesco has called on companies, and countries, to take a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to tackle food waste as the coronavirus pandemic focuses minds on global supplies. Dave Lewis, who steps down next week, called on companies to regularly report on the food waste in their business and supply chain and take action to meet the UN’s sustainable development goal, set 5 years ago, to halve food waste by 2030.

Albert Heijn launches the AH Compact delivery service to better serve small households: for these consumers, the minimum order amount (currently 50 euros, both in the Netherlands and Belgium) is often too high. That is why the retailer is lowering the minimum amount in the new app to 35 euros, reports Distrifood. For the time being, Albert Heijn is only launching the new app in the Dutch city of Haarlem as a test. If the delivery service is successful, a national rollout may follow.

China Post and Pinduoduo form strategic collaboration
Chinese e-commerce player Pinduoduo has formed a strategic cooperation with state-owned China Post Group Co., Ltd. The two parties will give full play to their respective advantages in the fields of agricultural products promotion and poverty alleviation. China Post said it will establish 150 agricultural production bases within three years, which will provide products for Pinduoduo to reach its nearly 700mln users.

There is no need for Britons to panic buy groceries after the government imposed new restrictions to stem a second wave of COVID-19, the boss of Tesco, the UK's biggest supermarket chain, said. US: Southeastern Grocers expands on-demand delivery with Uber partnership
Southeastern Grocers has teamed up with Uber to offer online grocery delivery service in Florida through its Cornershop-powered e-grocery marketplace. Customers of Southeastern Grocers’ Winn-Dixie and Fresco y Más supermarkets can order groceries via the Uber Eats and Uber mobile apps and online and have them delivered to their doors on demand or through scheduled delivery. The companies said that, so far, the service is available through the two chains’ stores in the Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville markets.
