How to manage crop protection product databases

The management of crop protection products, their correct use and their storage demand great responsibility. The chance to employ technological tools that help companies use crop protection products responsibly is a great step towards the safety of all those part of the chain.

BDF develops agricultural databases for the crop protection product segment.

BDF marketing manager Marco Borroni explained how the management of technical means in agriculture must entail the "collection, cataloguing and filing of the data concerning the various crop protection products: an advanced system that makes them available to sector operators in full compliance with current regulations."

Marco Borroni

"BDF is not just the name of the company, but that of our main software product, which is much appreciated by technicians dealing with crop protection. Our Database is currently accessed by over 2000 users to find useful information to defend their crops. The software supplies complete information and boasts many functions, such as for example research per crop or problem and the possibility of displaying dosage and labels."

Two versions of the program are available: the traditional PC version (BDF) with plenty of information and functions, and a smartphone and tablet version (BDF UP) that is simple and practical.

Many use this tool
"BDF is not only used by technicians, but also by laboratories wanting to access the MRL, i.e. the maximum residue levels allowed for active substances on the various vegetable products. Laboratories can have all the data needed to express a judgment on the compliance of a sample."

Tool useful for exporters
"But our company offers much more. Exporters of fresh produce, cereal and processed products can access "Homologa®" - an international MRL database produced by Lexagri sas (France) and distributed in Italy exclusively by BDF. Thanks to Homologa, it is possible to compare the MRL in force in Italy with those in the main importer countries and thus check the compatibility of the crop protection products registered in our country with the law of the importer country. It might also be a useful tool to prevent client claims."
