Eletta F1 cherry tomatoes by TSI Italia, a branch of Top Seeds International, were presented to the Italian public in 2018 with the "Bentornato sapore" (Welcome back flavor) claim. FreshPlaza interviewed two of the protagonists - Rosario Privitera and Fabrizio Iurato, who contributed to promoting "cherry tomatoes that are not commodities but rather fit in with the top end of the market."
The success of a variety reflects on the entire chain
"Over the past two years, this variety spread in the main production areas, bringing much satisfaction to producers and becoming appreciated by the big retail chain as well as final consumers," reported Priviters (Sales area manager central and southern Italy for TSI Italia).

"They are very flavorful cherry tomatoes with deep red berries, good resistance to cracking and high Brix and LSL levels. On top of autumn and spring cycles, Eletta is also suitable for long cycles and it develops better when grafted on Top Bental and Top Gun, respectively with high and very high vigor depending on the soil and weather characteristics of the area. We are available to help our clients choose the most suitable rootstock and combination and we also have an interactive guide (Cosa Innesti?) to identify the perfect rootstock according to various factors."

"Another peculiarity is the fact that this Eletta F1 enable producers to harvest as many as 15 days earlier than competitors, meaning they can cover their expenses sooner and benefit from the profit. These cherry tomatoes are suitable to be cultivated in Sicily thanks to their resistances, including that to TYLCV. However, they can also be grown all over Italy as they are also resistant to TSWV," highlighted Iurato.
