"No one should be in a rush to be selling. We have plenty of time to place the Italian potatoes, which are the most requested by consumers". These were the words of Massimo Cristiani, president of the Consorzio Patata Italiana di Qualità . "Our Selenella brand is very well known and puts us in an advantageous position. However, this doesn't exclude us from being in the market like everyone else and from following its dynamics."

The president pointed out that "the month of August is usually not very active for the consumption of potatoes. As a matter of fact, we only saw an upturn in early September, and this trend is continuing. There are many potatoes, but this does not mean that we should worry. The Covid-19 has changed the dynamics and led many people to rediscover the purchase of fresh potatoes and their use in the kitchen."

The yields for 2020 in Emilia Romagna are growing by about 10%. "But it is certainly not a year of overproduction - clarified Cristiani - but rather normal year, or barely more. What reassures us is that the quality is very high, accompanied by an excellent shelf life, thanks to the weather conditions recorded during the last phases prior to the harvest. And when the potatoes are already suitable, after many months in the cell, optimism is the prevailing feeling."
