The prices at source of the melons and watermelons from Castilla-La Mancha increased again this week. According to the prices recorded in the seventh session of the auction of Melons and Watermelons from Castilla-La Mancha, held on Wednesday 9 September, the price of the highest quality melon (extra) increased by 0.06 euros per kilo and its sales ranged between 0.40 and 0.42 euro, i.e. 0.10 euro higher than the prices achieved in mid-August.
In the last seven days, the price of the first category melon ranged between 0.33 and 0.37 euro after increasing 0.07 euro, while the second category fruit increased by 0.04 euro and ranged between 0.22 and 0.25 euro.
Watermelon prices, which have continuously increased throughout the season, also increased, though in this case with lower prices. The first category black seedless watermelon gained 0.02 euro per kilo and was marketed at prices that ranged between 0.39 and 0.44 euro per kilo. The price of the second category watermelon increased by 0.03 euro and was sold at prices that ranged between 0.28 and 0.32 euro.
The first-class white watermelon also gained 0.02 euro and it was traded at prices that ranged between 0.39 and 0.44 euro per kilo, while the second-class white watermelon was marketed between 0.28 and 0.32 euro.
