Bulgarian apple and pear processors to receive 138,236 Euro in Covid-19 aid

Bulgarian companies devoted to the processing of apples and pears will receive BGN 270,000 (around 138,236 Euro) in compensation for damages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic from the State Fund for Agriculture.

The purpose of this aid is to compensate part of the costs related to transport, logistics and storage of finished products, as well as other operations for the processing of apples and pears from the 2020 harvest.

All companies that increase the volume of purchases from registered agricultural producers by more than 15% compared to 2019 are eligible to apply. The subsidy will amount to BGN 26 (13.30 Euro) per ton of apples and BGN 42 (21.48 Euro) per ton of pears.

The companies applying to receive this compensation are required to be registered under the Food Act and to be introduced in the public register of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.
