Luxembourg fruit growers gave a rather mixed assessment of this year's harvest. According to the main stakeholders, the spring was too wet on average, with the following months being too dry and hot.
Fruit growers in Luxembourg are generally equipped with nets to protect the fruit from hail or sunburn. As these will filter about 18% of the light, the quality of the harvest is relatively good. The apples had a good year, some varieties took on slightly larger shapes after the frost, a situation that was reversed for pears, which shrunk a little for the same reasons. In Limpach, between 75 and 80 tons of apples were harvested.
