Arbikie Distillery’s ‘climate-positive’ Nàdar vodka

Scottish distillery unveils vodka made from peas

An experimental distillery in Arbroath, Angus, has created a sustainable vodka that it claims saves more than 1.5kg of carbon dioxide emissions per bottle by selecting the garden pea as its main ingredient.

Arbikie Distillery claims its pea-based Nàdar vodka is a “climate-positive spirit” that avoids more carbon dioxide emissions than it creates: “Turning peas into alcohol is no different than any other raw material, and simply involves taking the starch component then breaking it down and fermenting it into alcohol,” the company said.
