In Germany, fruit and vegetable seller Greenyard is creating a joint venture with supermarket chain REWE. Greenyard becomes one of the main suppliers of its regional fruit and vegetables.
Family business Greenyard announced a year ago that it would work closely with REWE. That collaboration is now continuing to take shape. That it is far-reaching is shown by the fact that Greenyard and REWE are setting up a separate company to supply the REWE supermarkets with fresh fruit and vegetables. Both parties asked the German competition authority to approve the cooperation.
As reported on news1.news, Greenyard will supply a large part of the fresh fruit and vegetables that REWE sells in its supermarkets. REWE achieved a turnover of 24.5 billion euros in Germany in 2019 with its 3,600 stores. This makes it the market leader of supermarkets.
