Start of the autumn mushroom season in Swiss wholesale

"We hope for more arrivals starting in the second half of September"

The supply of wild mushrooms has arrived in the autumn season. Smaller quantities of porcini mushrooms, black chanterelles, porcini and Caesar's mushrooms are already available at specialized wholesalers. At the moment only limited quantities are available, but larger volumes are expected to arrive from the second half of September onwards.

Porcini mushrooms are currently traded in wholesale at 30 Euro/Kg. "At the moment, we are purchasing the porcini mainly from Serbia, later we will also offer - depending on availability and quality - batches from Romania, Poland and Ukraine. However, the supply and the offer to be marketed is very dependent on the weather and the nature cannot be controlled," explains a buyer and seller of Hugo Dubno AG.

Chanterelles until November
Parallel to the arrivals of the autumn mushrooms, Eastern European chanterelles are still on offer. Until November, goods from Belarus and/or Poland will be available. "Directly after that we will try to get European goods - mostly from Portugal. Depending on availability, however, there is sometimes a small supply gap between the Eastern and Southern European campaigns, which is why we inevitably have to fall back on overseas goods from Canada or the USA."

Supplying the Swiss catering trade
Hugo Dubno AG serves quality kitchens and hotels throughout Switzerland with its top quality delicacies. "Because of Corona, this year's sales have been somewhat lagging compared to other years. But we hope the situation will gradually normalize in the coming months."
