A safe and environmentally-friendly method to keep Chinese fruit fresh

In other words, using 1-MCP will inhibit both the production of ethylene in fruit and the impact of ethylene in the environment on the ripening process in fruit. 1-MCP will bind with ethylene before the receptors in fruit cells can. This is how 1-MCP extends the shelf life of fruit, slows down the ripening process, and keeps fruit fresh for longer.

Treating fruit with 1-MCP before the harvest takes place can effectively extend the harvest period, simplify the harvesting process, and extend shelf life. 1-MCP also has some benefit towards drought resistance and cold resistance, thus reducing the negative impact of environmental factors on the growth of fruit.
