Euro Pool System Spain, an Alicante-based company that supplies reusable packaging for the food distribution sector, has once again increased its turnover in 2019, reaching close to 200 million Euro after increasing its sales by over 12%.
According to the annual accounts, the firm led by Bartolomé Saro, a subsidiary in Spain of the Dutch group of the same name, has made 198.5 million Euro in 2019, compared to 175.7 million in the previous year. This increase in the turnover has also been transferred to the procurements, so the firm has kept the margin and operating profit (4.6 million Euro) stable.
The good year for Euro Pool System Spain has also been reflected in the annual results, with 3.54 million Euro of net profit, which is 10% more than in 2018 (when it stood at 3.22 million). The financial result has barely had an impact on the company's behavior, as debts were only incurred with the other companies of the group.
Just like in other companies, the outbreak of the pandemic has generated uncertainty, although the fact of working for the food distribution sector seems to guarantee a certain degree of "safety". Not surprisingly, the retail sector is the one that has performed best during the lockdown, covering the supply of basic products. In fact, as highlighted in the report on the accounts, "the company's activity has not been significantly reduced or affected in the first months of the year due to the sort of clients served."
The Alicante-based firm is part of the Euro Pool System International BV group, directed since 2014 by Gerjo Scheringa and based in the Netherlands. It therefore works with the standards in force in most European countries and sells its production in several states of the Union. In the case of the Spanish subsidiary, it is in charge of the Spanish, Portuguese and Italian markets.
