Each of us is affected by stress and anxiety to some extent. According to Wendy McManus, Leadership Coach with Connect 2 Potential, it is the universal condition.
The solution, says McManus, is to increase your mental fitness, which is defined as your ability to handle life’s challenges with a positive, rather than a negative mindset. Well beyond “bright-side thinking,” your mindset significantly impacts the wiring in your brain. It affects everything, from your relationships, to your sense of peace, to your performance at work.
At the start of the pandemic lockdown, McManus engaged in a new type of personal development training to build her own mindset muscles. McManus said, “I joined a 6-week mental fitness training program and it has made a massive impact on me personally, especially during this time of high stress and uncertainty.” At the close of that program, McManus jumped at the chance to become trained and certified as a Mental Fitness Coach, so she can offer it to her produce industry clients.
Connect 2 Potential is now proud to present two programs, based in neuroscience and designed to grow your mental fitness. "Both of these programs will give you powerful, real-world tools for shifting your mindset and reducing your stress."
“These programs are not specifically leadership development programs,” said McManus, “but I guarantee that if you build your mental fitness muscles, you will become a better leader.”
McManus is hosting a series of Mental Fitness Masterclass sessions to introduce the framework and provide actionable strategies for starting to build your mental fitness.
Mental Fitness Boot Camp is a 6-week brain-training program, which combines a weekly video with daily app-guided exercises to help you master your mindset. A small-group coaching session each week helps maintain your enthusiasm and engagement throughout the entire program. The Mental Fitness Boot Camp from Connect 2 Potential is fast and effective. Mental Fitness Inner Circle is an ongoing group coaching community. Inner Circle members meet twice per month to deepen your understanding of mental fitness and engage with a supportive, growth-oriented community. Beyond sessions, members practice and build their mental fitness muscles, supporting each other via a private forum and online resources. An online mini-course gets new members up to speed quickly on the fundamentals of mental fitness. This program is perfect for anyone who wants to grow over time with a focus on community. New members are accepted on a quarterly basis and the next start date is September 24, 2020. Learn more here.
“I appreciate that the mental fitness framework synthesizes the newest developments in neuroscience, positive psychology, performance science, and other research,” said McManus. “It is based on the work of my mentor and teacher, Shirzad Chamine, and his New York Times bestselling book, Positive Intelligence, so it appeals to even my most rational clients.”
