Export has largely come to a standstill

High price of Chinese ginger creates awkward circumstances for processing factories

The export price of Chinese ginger has been on the rise since early May. At one point the price even reached as high as 2,800 USD per ton. The market is unrestrained. After a brief decline, the export price is again showing an increase. The current export price of Chinese ginger is around 2,300 USD per ton.

"The purchase volumes from overseas markets in the USA, Canada, and Europe are already shrinking because the price is too high. Chinese ginger processing factories have had to temporarily halt operations because of this. Only a small number of factories still receive a small number of orders. Many European traders are now leaning towards Brazilian ginger, which is only around 1,300-1,400 USD per ton." This is according to Jason, Sales Manager at Anqiu Tailai Foods Co., Ltd.

"In the end, the purchase volume from overseas markets is shrinking, but domestic market demand is growing stronger. That is why the price continues to rise."
