Mario Ebel (formerly Hylea Foods) founds Deutsche Food Up

"Our guiding principle is to support start-ups, active in the field of vegan nutrition"

Now that there is so much attention for healthy, vegan nutrition, many start-ups and young entrepreneurs are trying to enter this field. Often, these initiatives will fail due to a lack of capital. Mario Ebel from Cologne - longtime food retailer and co-founder of the successful company Hylea Foods - has now set himself the goal of connecting these innovative projects and willing investors. This has led to new Food Up AG being launched.

As co-founder and former managing director of Hylea Foods, an import company for organic Brazil nuts, Mario Ebel is already firmly established in the vegan industry. Since he founded the company in 2016, a doubling of the turnover (17 million Euro) has already been achieved within almost three years. Meanwhile, Fit for Fun (Dreimal-F LLC) was launched in April 2019: Under this brand name, nut and dried fruit mixes are offered in German food retail stores.

Right: Mario Ebel founded Dreimal-F LLC in April 2019.

In February of this year, Ebel resigned from the board of directors of Hylea Foods for personal reasons. The existing MPM Holding is now to become a completely new public limited company, namely Deutsche Food Up AG. "We also want to participate in the Düsseldorf Stock Exchange and our guiding principle is to invest in young start-ups and companies that are active in the fields of healthy, vegan food. So on the one hand we are looking for suitable business initiatives that correspond to our basic idea, and on the other hand we are also looking for investors who want to contribute to the development of the vegan, sustainable food industry."

Great growth potential in the area of overseas products
Parallel to the new foundation of Deutsche Food Up, the ambitious entrepreneur is trying to set up a new subsidiary for the import of fresh overseas products. "I still see great growth potential for fresh, organic fruit exotics such as ginger, avocado, mango and quinoa. Therefore, I am planning to set up a limited liability company which we will place under Deutsche Food Up AG."
