The advances in the varietal improvement of table grapes in recent years have allowed Anecoop to develop new seedless grapes that, in addition to having a superior flavor and sweetness, also make it possible to extend the product's commercial season.
The research work carried out by the second degree cooperative, which started in 2009, has borne fruit and, at this time, the commercial plantations of the selected varieties, located in different areas of the Peninsula, allow Anecoop to start the seedless table grape campaign in early July and finish with quality varieties at the end of December, with a production that will exceed three million kilos this year.
Regarding organic seedless grapes, the first tests started in 2015 and at this time Anecoop has 10% of the production under this seal.
With their participation in this project, Anecoop allows its partners access to varieties that would otherwise be difficult to obtain, providing comprehensive technical advice with qualified specialists and making it possible for them to obtain the best production and quality.
The firm is not only involved in varietal selection and field work, but also in the post-harvest. In this field, we can highlight the search for new packaging formats that can lead to a reduction in the use of plastic and extend the product's commercial shelf life.
