Large shipments of Vietnamese longan have been shipped to Australia, entering southern and western regions of that nation over the past few weeks.
Recently, about 7.5 tonnes of longan originating from Mekong Delta provinces arrived in Australia on August 6. Another 9 tonnes from Hai Duong province are being packed to be sent to Australia to participate in a longan promotion program held by the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia.
All batches of longan are imported and distributed by 4 Ways Fresh, a company based in Australia specialising in the production and trading of agricultural products.
As stated on en.nhandan.org.vn¸ Vietnamese longan was officially allowed to enter Australia in August 2019, becoming the fourth Vietnamese fresh fruit to be present in one of the most demanding markets in the world.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh has been working with Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam Hu Suo Jin to boost exports of farm produce, longan in particular, to China.
According to en.vietnamplus.vn, Doanh said the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam has been closely working with the ministry to remove difficulties in the shipment of Vietnamese agricultural products to China.
The Deputy Minister hoped the Chinese Embassy and relevant agencies will continue addressing difficulties in the field due to the current pandemic.
