Spain expects to produce about 40 million kilos of Mollar en Elche pomegranate this year

Elche's City Council has signed an agreement with the Association of Pomegranate Producers to strengthen the agricultural sector in Elche.

Felip Sanchez, councillor for Rural Affairs, met with Francisco Oliva, the president of the association, to publicize the agreement between both entities so that the Mollar de Elche PDO Pomegranate reaches all businesses.

This year, the farmers from Campo de Elche expect to produce about 40 million kilos of pomegranates; i.e. up to 15% less in than in the previous year due to temperatures. "This year we've had a slight decrease in production, but we have gained better quality in the product," Oliva said.
